The Bloodfast Emergency Volunteer Service (EVS) was established in Kingston upon Hull in 2007, Its aim – to assist the local NHS trust with the carriage of urgent medical supplies vital to patient care, using motorcycles.
The service was offered free of charge on a charitable basis.
At the same time JS Logistics run by John Spinks, were offering their services to the NHS in Hull as an emergency courier service.
The daily raising the funds to maintain Bloodfast EVS as a charity was difficult and time consuming and after some discussion John Spinks and the original members of Bloodfast EVS decided to amalgamate the two organisations together and from this formed Bloodfast EVS LTD.
This new company was to run as a not for profit organisation.
Made in Hull Award
Thanks to its reputation for service the company continued to expand and In 2014 it was recognized for its work within the community at Hull business week winning the inaugural “Made in Hull for the People of Hull” award.
In 2015 we were runners up in the same award category.
This also coincided with a move to new larger premises in Cottingham on the north western outskirts of Hull.
We now number 14 full and part time staff, and several volunteers. Of the original members of the company only two remain, John Spinks as the Operations Director and senior partner in the company and Sue Thompson who runs the office.
Also staffing the office is John’s daughter Olivia, this family theme runs through the drivers too, Callum – The son of Chaz Carling one of the other directors works for us.
We hope that these family connections will bode well for the future of the company.
